๐ต๏ธImage Privacy Blur & Redaction Tool Documentation & Guide
๐How to Use This Tool
- Select or Drag Image: Open any JPEG, PNG, or WebP photo containing private information you wish to censor.
- Select Redaction Mode & Strength: Choose between Gaussian Blur (soft obfuscation), Pixelate Mosaic (retro censorship blocks), or Solid Blackout (absolute irreversible redaction).
- Draw Redaction Boxes on Canvas: Click and drag over faces, IDs, credit card numbers, or license plates to mark areas for redaction.
- Click Redact & Sanitize Image: Click Redact & Sanitize Image to irreversibly bake the filter into the pixel array and download your secure image.
โ๏ธTechnical & Educational Details
Redaction executed server-side exposes private files over networks. Furthermore, CSS-only blur filters or floating HTML overlays leave original pixels completely intact beneath the surface. This tool uses CanvasRenderingContext2D pixel manipulation to permanently overwrite the underlying byte values before generating a new image file, ensuring that the original data is mathematically unrecoverable.
๐กPractical Use Cases & Best Practices
- Censoring personal identifiable information (PII) on invoices, driver licenses, and receipts before sharing in support tickets.
- Obfuscating children faces, bystander license plates, and street signs in public photography before posting on social media.
- Redacting API keys, passwords, and sensitive client credentials in bug report screenshots.
